How to Unfollow a Friend on Facebook while Staying Connected

I've been a Facebook user for five years and overtime, my friends bloomed to more than a whooping one thousand plus! But are they all really my 'friends'?

These 'friends' that I am referring to are those that I am kind of obligated to approve because of the following reasons:

  • They sent me friend request.
  • We have the same mutual friends.
  • They came from my hometown.
  • We have the same family name.
  • ... and etcetera.
Yes I know that Facebook is a social networking site. The very reason why I joined it in the first place. But it gets tiring already when your Newsfeed if flooded by the same set of 'friends' posting too often senselessly or too controversially.

Yes, I am or maybe most of us are faced by this dilemma of wanting to Unfollow somebody but can't bring ourselves to fully detach. Yes we are friends but we just don't need to see their everyday posts flooding our Timelines, right?

I tried to figure out how and thanks goodness, Facebook now has an added feature (I am not sure when it started) of unfollowing somebody's posts/updates but still you are connected as a friend.

How to Unfollow a Friend on Facebook

For iPhone users:

Step 1. Open your friend's profile.

Step 2. Look for the Friends button and click it once.

Step 3. Click the Unfollow button once

For Desktop Users:

Step 1. Open your friend's profile.

Step. 2. Look for the Following button (encircled) at the bottom of the Cover Photo

P.S.
Don't worry if you will opt to unfollow. Your friend has no way of knowing that you unfollow. :)
