Time to Cook

I tried my hands in the kitchen lately. I realized, I have no specialty. A specialty I can claim as mine. When there is a family occasion, I ended up buying ready-made foods or making easy, effortless desserts as my contribution.

I know how to cook, but just very plain and simple foods. I want to cook foods that we usually prepare during birthdays or any festivities. Recipes that are somewhat complicated and involve a more thorough cooking expertise and hard work.

Growing up, it was my older siblings who always took charge of the cooking while my job was just to eat and wash the dishes. Being the youngest of eight, nothing was expected (cook) of me then. Until now. They'll cook while I'll look. Haha! That rhymes.

But I want that to change. I want to cook my own favorite recipes and not just buy somewhere else. Like, I have a family of my own now, you know. I MUST learn how to cook by hook or by crook. I want my husband and son to eat the foods that I cook, fresh and healthy. We have our own share of family events and I just can't say, "I don't know how to cook special foods so let's just call the catering service!"

Now, I am starting to read online recipes. My first try was during my mom's 69th birthday celebration last January 15. Aside from the birthday cake, I cooked leche flan as dessert. Thanks to my sister-in-law, Jhing. It was my first time, but it was not put to waste. The feeling was great when you see in their faces and hear in their own words that they love it and it was delicious. My recipe was such a hit, making the famous cakes served as bring home foods.

These are the foods that I cook lately. It was very elementary but I am getting there. It may not be as scrumptious as the foods served in 8-star hotels but my son love it! And that's the most important thing right now.

Hotcake Double Choco Chip || Leche Flan || Hotcake with Caramel
Meat Balls || Chicken Nuggets & Sausage
Chicken Fillet || Chicken Barbeque, Korean Style

Happy cooking!
